Title : Team A1 USA to enter car in Indy 500

 Race fans attending the Indianapolis 500 - the most important race on the American racing calendar - next May will be made even more aware of A1Team USA, as seatholder and CEO Rick Weidinger is planning to enter a car and run it in the full stars and stripes livery of his A1GP car.
 Plans are still being drawn up, but the technology company entrepreneur wants to use the experience he gained when co-owning a car in the Indy Racing League in 2004 to boost the exposure of A1 Team USA. No choice of driver has been made, but both Bryan Herta (who made his A1GP debut last weekend in Australia) and Director of Race Operations Scott Sharp have the oval racing experience and desire to occupy the cockpit.

Title : Pre-Event Testing ban

 In order to keep the playing field as level as possible, all pre-event testing has been banned for the remainder of the season. This brings to an end the practice employed by several teams of sending their drivers out to learn the next circuit visited by the A1 Grand Prix series in advance, largely in Formula 3 cars, to gain an advantage.
 Henceforth, only the drivers competing for the bottom 4 teams in the series - China, India, the Lebanon and Russia - will be permitted to benefit from track time in advance, albeit not in their A1GP cars.

Title : Yoong optimistic ahead of Home Race

 Alex Yoong is full of optimism and excitement ahead of next weekend's Astro A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia 2005. Not only will he enjoy the rare experience of racing in front of his home crowd, but he will be travelling to his home circuit as a representative of the country's A1GP team.
 "It's going to be very special for me," said the former Minardi Formula 1 driver. "Everybody in the team is really looking forward to it. The racing should be great, as the circuit is very wide and offers lots of overtaking opportunities. One thing that is for sure is that some drivers will find the conditions difficult as it's sure to be both hot and humid."
 "One of the most exciting things for me is that I think that we'll get a good crowd, perhaps as many as 50,000, as the tickets will be much cheaper than for the Malaysian Grand Prix. With a national car to cheer for the first time, I think there will be some great support for us, although there still needs to be some educating of the people about what A1GP is. To this end, we're going to be doing a considerable number of promotional events in and around Kuala Lumpur in the week leading up to the event."

Title : Malaysian drivers may share Races on home ground

 A1 Team Malaysia drivers Alex Yoong and Fairuz Fauzy may break new ground in the Malaysia A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit, 2005 presented by Astro by splitting the driving honours across the 2 races. Across the first 4 rounds of the A1 Grand Prix series, many teams have split the driving duties between their drivers in the practice sessions, but thus far never in the races and the plan is that one will race in the sprint race and the other in the feature race, although it has yet to be decided which will start which race.
 This historic development is to ensure that the 2 main demographic groups within Malaysia - the Malaysian Malays and the Malaysian Chinese have one of their own to cheer on, with Fauzy representing the 1st group and Yoong the latter.

Title : A1GP reaches out to Malaysia

 If the people of Malaysia don't yet know much about the A1 Grand Prix series, they soon will. This is because there are a series of high-profile promotional activities planned for 12-13 November in the lead up to the Malaysia A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit, 2005, presented by Astro. The A1 Team Malaysia car is to be taken around the capital city, Kuala Lumpur, and put on display in the Shangri-La then Hilton hotels as well as shopping centres to raise awareness of this new sporting phenomenon. A special display will be mounted in Merdeka Square, a location high in the people's hearts as it's the national freedom square. Perhaps most high-profile of all, though, will be the occasion when the team's car is placed on a low-loader truck and driven round the city centre with a live radio broadcast being conducted from the truck and team T-shirts being thrown to onlookers.

Title : The concept behind A1 Team Malaysia

 A1 Team Malaysia has taken an approach that differs from the majority of the teams contesting the inaugural A1 Grand Prix series as it has built a team from scratch to run its car rather than employing an established team. Furthermore, A1 Team Malaysia has made it a tenet of its make-up that 40％ of its crew must be Malaysian, with the aim that this figure rises to 100％ within 3 years as its engineers and mechanics learn from their European counterparts.
 A1 Team Malaysia is also looking to bring on Malaysian driving talent and is initiating a driver search programme, starting at karting level. Notably, too, the franchise A1 Grand Prix Malaysia was formed as 25％ racing and 75％ business, effectively as a commercial vehicle to take Malaysian brands and products to the world. "The car is effectively a canvas on which to promote a country," explains commercial director Owen Leed. "We have taken the concept of the World Cup of Motorsport and are looking to maximise the nationalistic opportunities that this presents. Also, the concept of a level playing field is an attractive one, particularly when you look at motorsport in general at the moment."
 "For countries such as Malaysia", Leed continues, "our target is to start by attracting the national airline and tourist board then below that national industries. Logically, other companies below that might be attracted by national pride. However you look at it, A1 Grand Prix is an excellent business to business platform."

Title : A1 Team Indonesia aims to bounce back at Sepang

 Having missed last weekend's A1 Grand Prix series round at Eastern Creek while its sole driver Ananda Mikola was winning the Asian F3 Championship at Batangas in the Philippines, A1 Team Indonesia is determined to return to the series with a bang in next weekend's Astro A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia 2005.
 That the race meeting is being held in neighbouring Malaysia adds an extra incentive for Mikola to come back with a bang, as the 2 countries are fierce sporting rivals. "The 2 countries often meet in badminton and beach volleyball events", explains A1 Team Indonesia Commercial Director Russell Christopher, "but this will be something different. In the races at Estoril last month, when Ananda qualified behind Malaysia's Fairuz Fauzy, he was distraught and although he was upbeat after his best qualifying position to date, he was brought down by the Indonesian media wanting to know only why he'd been outqualified by a Malaysian... So it's safe to say that his chief aim in the race was to pass Fairuz."
 For those Indonesian fans unable to afford the flight to watch Mikola race in Malaysia, they will have to wait only until January for thier 1st taste of A1GP when Jakarta's Sentul circuit will host the 7th round.
