Title : New driver for A1 Team USA

 Philip Giebler has been selected to race for A1 Team USA at the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Dubai on 11 December.
 The 26-year-old who has spent much of his career racing in Europe, starting with French Formula Campus in 1999 and proceeding to Formula 3 after winning the Formula Palmer Audi Winter Series in 2000, will take over from Bryan Herta for the Middle Eastern race. This will come as a relief to Philip as his past few seasons in the Indy Pro Series and Totoyta Atlantic have been patchy at best due to a lack of budget.
 "There are a lot of promising American drivers to chose from," explains seatholder Rick Weidinger, "but he's a wonderful guy and it will be our pleasure to run him. It won't be the last we will see of Bryan, though, as he'll drive again later in the series and is very much a valuable member of A1 Team USA. I do have a responsibility, though, to find drivers and to help to to develop them."

Title : Katherine Legge to become 1st Female to try A1 Car

 A1 Team Great Britain will be breaking new ground next weekend at the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Dubai when it sends Katherine Legge out in its car. The British team will thus be the 1st to field a female driver.
 Despite finishing a fine 3rd overall in this year's North American Toyota Atlantic Championship, it has been only in the past fortnight that this 25-year-old has hit the headlines, doing so by testing for the Minardi Formula 1 team at Vallelunga. In so doing, she became the 1st female racer to try a Formula 1 car for more than a decade.
 "It's a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and represent my country," enthused Katherine. "I'm massively grateful to John Surtees and the team for the chance. It'll be really interesting to see how the A1, Champ Car and Formula 1 cars compare. I've been watching the A1GP races with interest and am looking forward to getting behind the wheel."
 With the luxury of 2 extra test sessions at the Dubai event, A1 Team Great Britain will run Katherine on the Friday morning before regular driver Robbie Kerr takes over for the remainder of the meeting.
 Team Principal John Surtees is delighted that the deal has come together: "Katherine was one of the drivers on our list who we didn't get to test before the start of the season, so we're taking the opportunity of the extra sessions to assess her in the car."

Title : Dubai welcomes A1 Grand Prix home with royal patronage

 History will be made in Dubai when the 1st A1 Grand Prix of Nations held on home soil will be under the royal patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister. The event on 9 to 11 December at the state of the art Dubai Autodrome promises to be one of the most spectacular events ever to be witnessed in the Middle East.
 "I'm honoured and privileged to have for this event the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. This project is perfect for my nation as it represents the diverse melting pot that Dubai has become both in terms of its culture and its peoples. I'm doing this for my country and hope to showcase Dubai to the world in the best light possible. We will be bringing one of the biggest events ever to Dubai and I'm sure the eyes of the world will be on us. I promise a spectacular show which is A1 Grand Prix. Its elements are exciting racing and entertainment for everyone, young and old. This will be our 1st visit to the Middle East and we will make it an unforgettable experience for the fans," said series Founder, President and Chairman, Sheikh Maktoum.
 Recent television figures revealed an audience of over 8 million people per race in more than 120 countries for the opening events and expectations are for this figure to increase for Dubai. "As this is A1GP's home race we are confident of viewer figures reaching 10 million as we now have a faithful television fan base. I'm going to be particularly proud to showcase this event to my family and the people of Dubai who up to now have only been able to watch the thrilling action on television," said Sheikh Maktoum.
 The launch of A1 Grand Prix in Dubai in March 2004 coincided with the official opening of the Dubai Autodrome. It is, therefore, fitting that as the Series reaches the halfway point in its inaugural year this should be the venue for its most stunning event to date. Chairman of the Dubai Autodrome, Saeed Khalfan said: "We are very happy to have A1 Grand Prix in Dubai and for our autodrome to act as host for this event. I hope the event will be successful and it is great for us to see A1GP representing Dubai in the world of motorsport. I'm very proud to have Sheikh Maktoum representing our country. He has been very courageous and we are all impressed with the drive he has shown in making this series such an international success."
 Simon Azzam, CEO Union Properties said: "We are extremely pleased to play host to A1 Grand Prix. It is an event that brings together all the nations of the world to motorsport. Union Properties through Dubai Autodrome welcomes A1 Grand Prix as an event that will help focus the world's spotlight on Dubai."
 Another event that will also be attracting international celebrities to Dubai next week is the Dubai International Film Festival, thus the celebrity guest list for the race meeting will include international and local names from the worlds of fashion and sport as well as Hollywood film stars. A1 Grand Prix is the only truly global winter racing series and now the eyes of the world will be on Dubai with the country determined to deliver an unforgettable spectacle.
 Moving forward, despite being only halfway through its inaugural season, A1 Grand Prix has been a monumental success. Long term plans for deals with both venues and sponsors are in advanced stages with further announcements due in the near future. "We have plans way beyond the end of our 1st season, and the deals we are working on with sponsors both in Dubai and internationally are nearing completion. We are also having serious discussions with venues and these are not just for single year deals.", said Sheikh Maktoum.

Title : Free tickets for patriotic fans

 The organisers of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Dubai are helping to boost patriotic support in this nation-against-nation contest by offering free entry for the first 100 Best Dressed fans from each nation competing. This will be a double ticket so that they can each bring in a friend. To qualify, spectators must be sporting their team's national sporting colours.

Title : A1 Team Lebanon builds up to its local race

 "In the Middle East in general and Lebanon in particular, motorsport is still small and football huge," explains A1 Team Lebanon media liaison Alison Hill, "so, we're planning a series of PR events in the run-up to the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Dubai, in order to educate Arab sport fans about our ambitions."
 These events won't only be in the Lebanon either, as the 1st one is planned for Amman in Jordan before heading to the Lebanese capital, Beirut. "We had our team launch in Beirut in December 2004, but we hadn't selected either of our drivers then and so it's very important that we return their for another PR launch to introduce them to their new fans before heading off to race in Dubai where we'll also be doing press functions in the week leading up to the race."
 What has been clear from the outset is that this nation that acknowledges the fact that it's starting from an almost non-existent motorsport background is ambitious and is loving appearing on the global stage against the nations that have traditionally dominated motorsport. "Our seatholders the Auchis are very proud of their country and want to use A1 Team Lebanon to show young Arabs that you can pursue your dreams."
