The debut of Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2010

2010 INTERCONTINENTAL LE MANS CUP :
3 continents / 3 races / Manufacturers' and Teams' titles

The eagerly-awaited Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will kick off in 2010 !

 Messrs Remy Brouard, the General Manager of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, and Vincent Beaumesnil,
the ACO Sports Manager, present at the Sebring 12 Hours, officialised the launch of this international
cup during the ACO press conference. It will be held on three continents and will consist of three
races, each of which is part of a series run under the Le Mans label.

 The three Intercontinental Le Mans Cup races on the 2010 calendar are :
  12th September 2010:
  The Silverstone 1000kms(Great Britain) in the Le Mans Series.
  2nd October 2010:
  The Petit Le Mans 1000 Miles(USA) in the American Le Mans Series.
  Early November 2010:
  In China (date and circuit to be confirmed by the end of April) in the Asian Le Mans Series.

 In addition to the initial information released concerning the birth of the Intercontinental Le Mans
Cup, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest has decided to create not one - but two - manufacturers' titles for
the first year !

 The ACO is very much aware of the presence in 2010 of makes as prestigious as BMW, Corvette, Ferrari,
Jaguar, Porsche, Aston Martin etc, and the club wants to help reinforce the strategic vision of these
manufacturers - but not only that. In order to enhance the prestige and reward the involvement of all the
teams, the ACO has also created a Teams' Cup open to all four categories: it will be the third title
awarded in the context of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

 To be eligible for each of these three titles, entrants must take part:
  In all three events counting for the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup
  In five races run under the Le Mans label (except the Le Mans 24 Hours)

 The opening date for entries for the first Intercontinental Le Mans Cup is 30th March. Closing date: 31st May.

我々が熱望していたインターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップが、2010年遂に始まる!!

 ACOのGMであるレミ・ブロアール氏、ACOのスポーツマネージャーであるヴァンサン・ビューメスネル氏が、
セブリング12時間レースの開催中、ACOの記者会見にて、このインターナショナルカップの概要が発表された。
大会は3大陸の3レースにおいて争われる予定で、いくつかの「ル・マン」の冠がついたレースに参加しなければならない。

 2010年のインターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップの3レースは以下の通り。
・ 9月12日、ル・マンシリーズ
  シルバーストン・1000km(イギリス)
・ 10月2日、アメリカン・ル・マンシリーズ
  プチ・ル・マン・1000マイル(アメリカ、ロードアトランタ)
・ 11月上旬、アジアン・ル・マンシリーズ
  中国(4月の終わりにはサーキットと日程を発表する予定)

 また、インターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップの誕生に関して発表された初期情報に加え、ACOは初年度の
マニュファクチャーズタイトルの創設を決めました。それも、1つではなく、2つです!!
 BMW、コルベット、フェラーリ、ジャガー、ポルシェ、アストンマーチンなどと同じくらい、ACOは2010年における
大手メーカーの存在をとても意識している。そしてACOは、これらのメーカーの戦略的展望を補強するのを助けたがって
います。しかし、それだけではない。
 これに関わる全チームの名声と報酬を高める為に、ACOはチームタイトルを4カテゴリー全てにおいて創設すること
にしました。おそらくこれは、インターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップにおける第3のタイトルとなり得るでしょう。

 これら3つのタイトルに関し、参加者は次のレースに参加しなければならない。
・ インターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップの3レース全ての参加
・ ル・マン24時間を除く、ル・マンの名の付いた5レースの参加
(もしかすると、ル・マンシリーズ5戦出場、という意味かもしれない)

 最初のインターコンチネンタル・ル・マンカップの参加エントリーは3月30日から5月31日までとなっている。

この件に関しては、昨年の岡山の時に少し触れてますね。

あとは、童夢が今年の参戦を断念。4月頭の発表でした。
ウェブサイトにコラムがあり、たまに見ると面白いです。
で、今回のル・マンのネタで色々書いてます。こちらです。

文中に2001年の#9がなんたら、というのがあったので調べると…これはヤン・ラマースぽい。おまけにJというイニシャルも付いてるので…。(汗)
そして、フランスの日本人オーナーというのも、YTさんかなと思っている。LMP2で結構出てたし。でもこれは違うだろう。
終盤はモナコチームかと思って、JMBかと思ったが、エントリー的にはOAKかもしれないですね。

とはいえ、こうしてレースに出るのは本当にお金がかかるし、ワークスもプライベーターも大変だろうなぁと思います。
