まず、何とコメントしていいのかわからない。
今年のMoto2で初優勝したことで知った名前ですが、将来有望であったことには変わりないだろう…。
映像も確認したが…うん、言葉は悪いかもしれないが、あれは一撃。生存を望むほうが無理だっただろうね。

Shoya Tomizawa passes away

The Japanese rider tragically passed away today, Sunday 5th September, after being injured in a crash during the Moto2 race at Misano.

 On Sunday 5th September during the Moto2 race at the Misano World Circuit, rider Shoya Tomizawa aged 19 suffered a serious crash and subsequent cranial, thoracic and abdominal trauma.

 Given the seriousness of his condition - especially for the thoracic and abdominal trauma - Tomizawa was immediately treated at the Misano World Circuit medical centre and put under artificial respiration.

 The rider was taken by ambulance to the Riccione hospital accompanied by two doctors - helicopter was not used in order to allow for the proper respiratory support to be administered. Despite various attempts to resuscitate him Shoya sadly succumbed to his injuries at 14.20.

 Everybody involved in MotoGP extends its deepest condolences to Shoya's family and friends at this tragic loss.

富沢祥也、不運の事故死

優勝争い中に転倒を喫した富沢が、サーキットの近郊の病院に運ばれ、救急治療を受けたが、不運にも帰らぬ人となった。

 テクノマグ-CIPの富沢祥也は5日、第12戦サンマリノ&リビエラ・ディ・リミニGPの決勝レースで転倒。頭部、胸部、腹部を負傷したことから、サーキットのメディカルセンターで人工呼吸を行い、サーキット近郊のリッチョーネ市内の病院に、2人の医師の治療を受けながら、(ヘリコプターでは適切なサポートができないことから)救急車で転院され、緊急治療を試みたが、14時20分(日本時間21時20分)に死亡が確認された。

 MotoGPファミリーは、富沢の家族、そして彼の友人たちに心から哀悼の意を表明します。

Tomizawa's accident explained by Race Direction

Race Director Paul Butler, Claude Danis (FIM), Safety Officer Franco Uncini, Clinica Mobile Medical Officer Claudio Macchiagodena, and Javier Alonso (Dorna) held a press conference following the sad death of the Japanese rider.

 Race Director Paul Butler, the FIM's Claude Danis, Safety Officer Franco Uncini, Doctor Claudio Macchiagodena of the Clinica Mobile, and Javier Alonso from Dorna were present at a press conference in which they each made statements following the tragic death of Shoya Tomizawa following a crash in the Moto2 race at Misano.

 Claudio Macchiagodena: "We want to speak about the accident today, a very bad accident involving three riders who crashed and who immediately had serious problems. One of the riders, Alex de Angelis, got up. The second rider (Scott Redding) had no problem. One was very serious, and as you know this was Shoya Tomizawa. Immediately the first idea I think is if it's possible to stop the race because it's dangerous, but the people with the stretcher immediately arrived and when you remove the rider from the track for my medical decision I do not ask Race Direction for the red flag because this does not help my job, because we delay the intervention for the ambulance. Behind the track protection we had one ambulance with the respirator inside and we started immediately all the intensive care for him. I didn't ask for the red flag because I didn't need it. After the rider came to the medical centre I had some people asking me why it took a lot of time. The intensive care started behind the protection of the track. Normally when you have a broken arm the ambulance is the same as a taxi, where you put the rider inside and send him quickly. Now it was very important to have the ventilation and two doctors. When he arrived at the medical centre his condition was critical, and we continued the intensive care. We had a lot of doctors but the situation was critical, we had a process for respiration. We checked an abdominal trauma with the scanner because it was a very serious situation not just for the cranial trauma, but for the chest and abdominal."

 "He suffered a heart trauma and the best option was to transfer him to hospital in Riccione because it's very close and because we have two doctors in the ambulance who continued the respiration process, and to go by helicopter was very far and not possible for this process. When he arrived in hospital we continued for ten minutes or more... but in the end nothing could be changed for Tomizawa."

 Paul Butler: "I think the first thing we have to say is that our sympathies go out to the family and friends of Tomizawa and the team, clearly. Doctor Macchiagodena has explained the situation very clearly. My job is to decide whether to red flag or not based on the advice I receive. The medical intervention was very quick and very efficient because the point of the accident there were many medical services there: several ambulances and a lot of doctors. So the evaluation of the situation was swift. The next stage is to do with the safety of the other riders on the track and the intervention of the marshals was very swift so there was no risk to the other riders. The crashed motorcycles and the debris was removed very quickly and therefore there was no reason to red flag."

 Claude Danis: "I would just like to confirm what Paul said. We thought after consultation together that it was not necessary to stop the race because it seemed everything would be okay when the riders come round for the next lap, and that was the case. Of course today is a very sad day for all of us and on behalf of the FIM I would like to express my very deep condolences to the family of Tomizawa, to the team and to his friends. Things like that happen sometimes, hopefully not very often, and that is racing."

 Franco Uncini: "We are very close to the family, to the friends, the team and everybody close to him. We can say that what happened was nothing to do with the safety. These kinds of injuries unfortunately could happen at any time. With the technology we have at this moment it's very difficult to solve this problem but we are trying to work on this and try and have something that in the future will help us have less damage in this kind of incident."

 Javier Alonso: "Today we lost an excellent person, of course a good rider but first of all an excellent person and we are very sorry for that. We are very sorry for the family of course and for the team, and just a small clarification because it looks like the news that unfortunately Tomizawa had passed away came out before we officially announced it. That was because we wanted to inform the family first. So the first thing we did when we received the news was to inform the family."

There was an overwhelming sadness at Misano as riders and teams expressed their sorrow at the tragic death on Sunday of Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa.

 The untimely passing away of Shoya Tomizawa on Sunday provoked an array of sad reactions from the MotoGP paddock, as the sport lost a talented rider and one of its most popular figures.

 Nineteen year-old Tomizawa, the first rider ever to win a Moto2 race at the start of the season, was a highly charismatic, friendly and well-liked person and tributes to him were paid by those who had been fortunate to experience his fantastic persona.

 Moto2 race winner at Misano on Sunday Toni Elias said: "All I feel is sadness right now and my victory today is irrelevant. I was talking and joking with Tomizawa only yesterday in the Clinica Mobile and to think that he is no longer with us is truly awful. Even today we were out there racing together when he was in front of me before this incredible tragedy. He has left an indelible mark on my life."

 Elias Team Manager Fausto Gresini, who experienced the tragedy of losing a rider when Daijiro Kato passed away at Suzuka in 2003, stated: "Today is a very sad and very tough day, when racing doesn't feel like it should. I know just how hard it is to lose a rider in these circumstances and I know the pain that his family and all the guys on the team who worked with him are feeling right now. There is little more to say."

 MotoGP race winner Dani Pedrosa reflected: "There are no words to say how it feels after this victory - it feels like nothing. It's so sad, terrible, and these things should never happen. As a person I can only say that he was a very funny boy, always happy and making jokes, and as a rider he earned respect from everybody in a very short time, he was fast and brave."

 Jorge Lorenzo said: "I don't have many words for the race on such a sad say. It's a huge pity because he was a good guy and a strong rider. I am so sad and I just want to say how sorry I am for his family and his friends. When this happens nothing else matters."

 The Spaniard's team-mate Valentino Rossi commented: "I'm so sorry for Shoya because he was a strong rider but above all he was very 'sympatico.' He was very funny, always smiling and he always had nice things to say to everyone. He was also very young with a great career ahead of him so we are all very sad."

 Ducati rider Casey Stoner said: "I am deeply saddened for Tomizawa, his family and everybody who worked with him. It is something truly terrible and it left me breathless, like a week ago (and the death of Peter Lenz). It was a pleasure to watch him ride and I was looking forward to see him have a great career."

 The Australian's team-mate Nicky Hayden added: "I am really sad, we have lost two riders in two weekends. My thoughts are with his family and his team but I think the whole paddock has been hit hard by this tragedy. At the end of the day we are all brothers here. We have lost a talented kid with a great personality. I loved his style, his determination and the smile he always wore."

 信じられない訃報がイタリアから舞い込んで来た。MotoGPロードレース世界選手権・Moto2クラスで活躍中の富沢祥也が9月5日(日)に開催されていた、第12戦サンマリノのレース中のアクシデントにより亡くなってしまった…。

 予選8番手グリッドからスタートした富沢は、トップ争いを繰り広げていたが、4番手を走っていた12周目に転倒。直後にいた2台に激しく接触されてしまう。富沢はメディカルセンターからリッチョーネ市内の病院に搬送されたが、14時20分(日本時間 21時20分)に死亡が確認された。

 富沢は、まだ19歳。2006年より全日本GP125クラスにフル参戦。いきなりトップ争いを繰り広げ周囲の度肝を抜いた。ランキングも2位となりルーキー・オブ・ザ・イヤーを獲得。2007年にはGP250クラスとGP125クラスにダブルエントリーを敢行。2008年はGP250クラスでランキング2位となった。

 2009年よりMotoGPロードレース世界選手権250ccクラスにフル参戦を開始。今シーズンよりMoto2クラスにエントリーすると、開幕戦カタールで劇的な優勝を飾り、初代ウイナーとなった。その後も第2戦スペインで2位に入るなど活躍していたが、不運なアクシデントも続いていた。

 将来が楽しみなライダーであり、まだまだこれからというときのアクシデントだった。豪快でキレのあるライディング、そして、その人なつっこい性格は、誰からも愛されていた。

 心からご冥福をお祈りいたします。

Honda pays tribute to Tomizawa

Honda Motor Co. Ltd and Honda Racing Corporation would like to express their great sadness at the passing away of Shoya Tomizawa following an accident in today's San Marino Grand Prix.

 Tomizawa crashed on the 12th lap of the Moto2 race. The Japanese rider was immediately treated at trackside, then at the circuit medical centre and then at Riccione hospital. Numerous attempts were made to resuscitate him but at 14.20hrs he succumbed to cranial, thoracic and abdominal trauma.

 Both Honda Motor Co. Ltd and Honda Racing Corporation would like to extend their deepest condolences to Tomizawa's family and friends.

 Nineteen-year-old Tomizawa, from Chiba, was a very popular rider in the MotoGP paddock, known for his sunny smile and determination on the racetrack. He made his Grand Prix debut at Motegi in the 125 class in 2006. In 2008 he took the runner-up spot in the 250 All-Japan Championship. He became a full-time GP rider last season, taking 17th place in the 250 World Championship. This year he moved into the new Moto2 series and made history by winning the opening round.

 ロードレース世界選手権(WGP)Moto2クラスに参戦するTechnomag-CIPチームの富沢祥也選手(19歳/千葉県)は、2010年9月5日(日)に開催された第12戦サンマリノグランプリ・Moto2クラス決勝レース走行中の12周目、11コーナーで転倒。頭部、胸部、腹部を負傷し、サーキット内のメディカルセンターで人工呼吸などの処置を受けた後、2名の医師とともにサーキットからリッチョーネ市内の病院に搬送されました。病院では緊急処置が施されたものの、同日(9月5日)午後2時20分、逝去されました。

 富沢選手は、2006年に全日本ロードレース選手権のGP125クラス(Honda RS125R)にデビューするとともに、同年開催されたWGP日本グランプリ125ccクラスにワイルドカードでスポット参戦を果たしました。2008年には全日本ロードレース選手権GP250クラス(Honda RS250R)にステップアップし、ランキング2位を獲得。翌2009年には、活躍の場をWGP250ccへと移し、フル参戦しました。今シーズンは、新設されたMoto2クラスに参戦し、開幕戦カタールでは見事優勝を遂げ、世界で活躍する日本人の若手ライダーとして今後の更なる活躍が期待されるライダーでした。

Marks of respect for the Japanese Moto2 rider from his fellow World Championship riders.

 The shock felt by all around the Misano circuit on Sunday at the tragic death of Moto2 rider Shoya Tomizawa led to a series of saddened reactions, and here are further comments from World Championship riders who expressed their grief at the untimely passing away of the 19 year-old Japanese star.

 "My thoughts are with Shoya Tomizawa. I was informed after the race and the news is like a slap in the face," said Andrea Dovizioso. "Two tragic accidents in two races is so terrible and it reminds us how dangerous is our job. The safety commission has improved safety levels so much that we often forget this aspect. I'm so sorry for Tomizawa's family. Having become a father I can understand that this is the worst thing that can happen for a family."

 Alvaro Bautista said: "When we had finished the race I heard the news about Tomizawa and I am just so sorry for him and all his family. It is a hard day for all riders, I am sure he will stay with us always and I hope he is now in a better place."

 Fellow Spaniard Hector Barbera commented: "After learning about what has happened to Tomizawa, I am speechless. I was told about it as soon as I got off the bike, and it is very difficult to take something like that in. Today's result doesn't really matter anymore. Shoya was a great rider who always gave his all on the bike. He was also a great person who was always smiling and with whom I got on well. I want to send my thoughts to his family and friends."

 Another rider who competed against Shoya in last year's 250cc category Marco Simoncelli said: "There is not much to say - it's been a tough day and the race is insignificant. Two tragedies in a week is too much. Last Sunday a boy of just 13 and today Tomizawa, who was only 19. When something like this happens it is simply terrible and I feel so sorry."

 Following the tragic death of the Japanese Moto2 rider Shoya Tomizawa during the GP of San Marino, the FIM immediately conveyed its most sincere condolences and profound sympathy to his family, friends and team members.

 Vito Ippolito, FIM President declared: "We are extremely saddened by the death of Shoya Tomizawa, a charming and talented rider with a promising future, which reminds us that our sport, in spite of a reduced number of fatal accidents in recent years, is not without risk for its competitors."

 "The FIM and Dorna, along with all the protagonists of our sport, have worked enormously in recent years for the improvement in active and passive security of our sport in order to ensure that all the circuits and facilities used in our sport achieve the highest possible level of safety."

 "I have been in contact with the Race Direction to understand the circumstances of the accident and I know that everything that could be done has been effectively carried out to save the life of this rider. However, the dynamics of the accidents that take place in our sport are often unpredictable. We must continue to research and analyse to minimise them."

 "In these difficult times that plunge our sport into mourning, I reiterate my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Shoya Tomizawa as well as to the Japanese Federation."

The Italian Motorcycling Federation's thoughts on Shoya Tomizawa's death

A statement from the FMI on the Japanese Moto2 rider's accident at the Misano World Circuit on Sunday September 5th.

 Controversy is still continuing over the death of Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa during the San Marino Grand Prix held on the Misano Adriatico racetrack on Sunday September 5th.

 The Italian Motorcycling Federation deems it appropriate to express its opinion, although the MotoGP World Championship is organised under the aegis of the International Motorcycling Federation, as is the case with all World Championship disciplines.

 Many commentators spoke about the safety of the track and whether it would have been appropriate to stop the competition immediately after the accident.

 The Italian Federation believes that the very high safety standards in place at Misano make the track "safe". The track is homologated according to the rules and in the 2010 season it even hosted to two Italian Speed Championship events, Italy's highest level of sports motorcycling on track.

 Immediately after the accident, the injured rider was quickly moved to a safe area of the track and the paramedics were able to take action within a very short time, providing the most appropriate aid. An ambulance was at any rate ready to take the rider to the track Medical Centre, one of Italy's most modern and technically advanced facilities. Stopping the race - with the track having been promptly cleared, including all the debris that lay on the asphalt after the accident - would not have made any difference to the riders' safety on the track. Indeed, it would have just slowed down aid while awaiting the arrival of an equipped ambulance.

 "Motorcycling is a dangerous sport", observed the President of the Italian Federation, Paolo Sesti, "and we must all be aware of it, including those who are not directly involved in motorcycling operations. Constant efforts are being made to improve safety during competitions, and outstanding results have been achieved."

 "Major actions have been taken over the years, including changes to the track layout, such as the enlargement of escape areas, changes to the curb profile, laying 'artificial grass' along the curbs. I should therefore like to express my total appreciation and sympathy to the Management of the Racing Circuit and all medical personnel and competition officials. The accident was handled in an exemplary fashion and as prescribed."

 "It is of no use to continue to be angry about bad luck, for a respectful silence greeting the departed rider would be more appropriate."

ミサノはイタリア国内で最も安全コースであることを信じていた。
2010年にはイタリア国内選手権を2度開催するほどの、イタリア国内で最もレベルが高い2輪コースでもあった。
あと残りはレースの時の運営状態かな。
下…バイク競技は危険なスポーツ。ミサノはコースのレイアウト変更など、安全性をより高める動きをしてきた。今回の不運によりコースは使われないだろうが、富沢選手にはお悔やみ申し上げたい。
