Title : A1 Driver nominations for QualifyingThe final official practice session of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Brands Hatch, Great Britain finished and the drivers for Qualifying have been nominated. Qualifying consists of four 15 minute sessions with a 10 minute break between each. Only one driver per A1 Team is allowed to take part in Qualifying but that driver must have completed at least three timed laps in an Official Practice session. Each driver is limited to three laps - effectively one "flying lap" - per session and must record at least two times, an aggregate of which will determine that A1 Team's position on the grid for Sunday's Sprint race. The grid for the Feature race will be determined by the outcome of the Sprint race.Practice-3 (11:00-12:00)

Title : Qualfying results and Sprint race gridThe grid positions for the Sprint race for the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Brands Hatch, Great Britain have been decided following four 15 minute Qualifying sessions this afternoon. However, in a twist to the traditional motorsport format, the driver who took part in qualifying may not be the one who competes in both races. Any of the A1 Team's drivers that have set a practice time within 102 per cent of the team's fastest qualifying lap are in with a chance to race. Commenting on his track success, A1 Grand Prix's first pole winner, A1 Team Brazil's Nelson Piquet Jr said: "I have been racing in Europe for a couple of years representing my country, Brazil but now it is great to be able to do it officially. This is not Piquet driving, it is Brazil. Everything was just great for me and this is the first session since the very first one that I have had no problems. I didn't come out for the last session so I was a bit nervous in case somebody beat my time but fortunately no one managed to do it. The Team did a good job, there was lots of traffic and they got me out at the right time. The qualifying format for us drivers is excellent and gives us good experience. You have to be calm and careful. Those who stay calm and confident get the best lap." A1 Team New Zealand driver Matt Halliday said: "We have a good record in all sports and now hope with this series giving young New Zealand drivers a chance, it will be the same in motorsport." A1 Team France driver Alexandre Premat said: "I was really confident because the car was really great. In Qualifying one it was a little more difficult to drive because I used old tyres but went on to new ones for session two. By session four, I was more confident with the car. I wanted to fight with Nelson Piquet for pole so I don't think this is a bad result especially as this is our first qualifying." Nelson Piquet Jr recorded the fastest lap in Qualifying with a 1:14.965 lap in session three. Second fastest was Alexandre Premat for A1 Team France with a 1:15.163 lap in session four followed by A1 Team New Zealand's Matt Halliday who recorded a lap of 1:15.389 also in session three. As well as in session three, when he set the fastest overall time, Nelson Piquet Jr put in the fastest lap time in session one with a 1:15.824 lap time. In session two, A1 Team Great Britain's Robbie Kerr recorded the fastest lap time at 1:15.878. All the A1 Teams will use the drivers who qualified today for both of tomorrow's races except for A1 Team Malaysia who will use Fairuz Fauzy for the Sprint race and Alex Yoong for the Feature race. The Sprint race will be contested over 50 miles lasting up to 30 minutes in duration. With a rolling start at 13.30 BST, tomorrow's race will be run over 18 laps of the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch. The outcome of the race determines the grid position of the Feature race which will start at 15.00 BST with a standing start. The Feature race will be run over 100 miles (36 laps) lasting up to 60 minutes in duration.Qualifying Results
