Title : Driver nominations for QualifyingTyre choice played an important part in the fastest lap times for the final official practice session of the Malaysia A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit presented by Astro, with the top 8 teams on the timing sheet all having opted for new rubber. A1 Team China was perhaps the biggest surprise, putting in the 3rd fastest lap of the weekend knocking 2.433 seconds off his overall fastest lap time set in yesterday's 2nd official practice session. With Tengyi Jiang having raced at Sepang before, his true potential is starting to show as he gets to grips with the A1 race car. (フリー走行結果) (予選出走ドライバー) Qualifying consists of four 15 minute sessions with a 10 minute break between each. Only one driver per A1 Team is allowed to take part in Qualifying but that driver must have completed at least 3 timed laps in an Official Practice session. Each driver is limited to three laps - effectively one "flying lap" - per session and must record at least 2 times, an aggregate of which will determine that A1 Team's position on the grid for Sunday's Sprint race. The grid for the Feature race will be determined by the outcome of the Sprint race.Practice-3

Title : Qualifying Results and Sprint Race gridAfter an exciting afternoon's qualifying which saw the last 3 sessions declared wet as the black clouds rolled in and heavy rain fell on the Sepang International Circuit, A1 Team Switzerland has taken its 1st pole position at the Malaysia A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Sepang International Circuit, 2005 presented by Astro. Neel Jani said: "It was very difficult on track today as there was rain on some corners and not on others. I thought I would have been able to go faster in the second session but there was drizzle in some parts of the track. It is very difficult to make a tyre choice in those conditions. It is very difficult to read the weather here and it could start to rain in the race, but we did get the chance to try a dry set-up in the damp conditions to see how the car reacts." Commenting on the rolling start in the Sprint race, Jani said: "In the first race it is easy to tell who is professional or not. The first race is really about looking after the car and getting a good grid position. Tomorrow I have some professional drivers around me so it should be OK." 24 A1 Teams took to the track in the first session, all recording lap times within 2.506 seconds of each other. As the rain started to fall in the 2nd session, lap times increased and as conditions worsened, session 3 became a wash out. Only 3 teams, those from the Czech Republic, Mexico and Lebanon braved the treacherous track to complete their flying lap. The rain eased slightly as session 4 began and 18 A1 Teams chose to complete the session although with slower lap times, the table remained unchanged from the first 2 sessions. Alexandre Premat, who will take 2nd position on the Sprint race grid said: "The 2nd session was good, although I think we decided to go out too late, and it made it difficult behind so many cars and the track was getting wetter. We have learnt a lot about how to prepare the car in the different conditions and I hope to win tomorrow. If it rains tomorrow it will be very difficult as vision behind another car is very bad." A1 Team Ireland achieved their best qualifying result to date, putting them 3rd on the Sprint race grid. Driver, Ralph Firman said: "I've had a really good weekend. We were very strong, and although we didn't have the best lap in the 1st session we had a good lap in the 2nd session. It's hard to tell what will happen tomorrow as we don't know what the weather conditions will be. It is a wide circuit and there will be good overtaking possibilities. For those that look after the tyres through the race there will be chances to overtake near the end. Being in the top three is good and we have a great opportunity and chance of winning a race tomorrow." A1 Team Malaysia, who also put in their best ever qualifying result are the only team that will take advantage of A1 Grand Prix's unique rule which allows them to swap drivers between qualifying and the 2 races. While Alex Yoong qualified in 7th position, Fairuz Fauzy will drive in tomorrow's Sprint Race and Alex in the Feature Race. (予選結果) The Sprint race will be contested over 50 miles lasting up to 30 minutes in duration. With a rolling start at 13:30 local time, tomorrow's race will be run over 15 laps of the full Sepang International Circuit. The outcome of the race determines the grid position for the Feature race which will start at 15:00 local time with a standing start. The Feature race will be run over 100 miles (30 laps) lasting up to 60 minutes in duration.Qualifying Results

Title : Scheider battles jetlag in dash to SepangA1 Team Germany driver Timo Scheider had good reason to feel less than fresh when he ventured out on the circuit for the Malaysia A1 Grand Prix of Nations at Sepang as he'd just landed at the nearby Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Timo had flown in from Dubai where he'd spent the previous afternoon competing in the penultimate round of the FIA GT Championship, thus missing all the Friday track time. The delayed start to his A1 Grand Prix meeting was worthwhile, however, as Timo and partner Michael Bartels finished 2nd in their Maserati MC12, moving them to within 1 point of the championship lead ahead of next weekend's finale in Bahrain. This result helped his team, Vitaphone Racing Team, to clinch the GT1 Team's Championship title. Despite looking relatively bright when he arrived at the track, Timo said that all he wanted to do was to complete the 1-hour session, in which he lapped an impressive 8th fastest, and then arrange for qualifying to be brought forward by several hours so that he could head off to his hotel for some sleep... 6th overall after the first segment of the 4-part qualifying, Timo was caught out by the arrival of rain at the start of the second segment and dropped back to 16th overall.「シェイダーV.S.
